Tucson · camera calibration
ADAS calibration in Tucson, right after the new glass.
Your lane and braking camera looks out through the windshield. Once the new glass is in, we set that camera back to the maker's specifications in the same visit, where the procedure can be done on site.

The reason
What calibration actually does
A forward camera judges distance and lane position from what it sees through one patch of glass. Every windshield sits in its frame a tiny bit differently, so after a replacement the camera's idea of straight ahead can be off. A small angle at the mirror turns into a big miss a few hundred feet down I-10. Calibration resets the camera so it reads the road the way the maker intended.
We follow the vehicle maker's procedure for your car. On most vehicles that happens as soon as the windshield is set, in the same appointment. If your car's procedure calls for equipment or a test drive we cannot do where it is parked, we tell you when you book, not on the day.
Does my car have one?
Signs your car has a forward camera
- A dark plastic housing behind the rearview mirror, often with a dotted black border on the glass around it.
- Warnings or a nudge on the wheel when you drift over a lane line.
- Automatic braking or a collision warning for slowing traffic.
- Cruise control that keeps a set gap to the car in front.
- High beams that dim on their own, or a speed limit shown on the dash after you pass a sign.
Not sure? Text your VIN to (877) 350-5962 and we will look it up before you book.
Install day
Where calibration fits in a Tucson visit
When you book
We use the VIN to confirm the camera and the procedure the maker sets for it.
Glass out
The camera is unclipped from the old windshield before it comes out.
Glass in
The new windshield arrives with its own bracket, and the camera is moved over and seated.
Calibration
The technician runs the calibration your vehicle maker specifies.
Hand-back
You hear what was done and when the car is safe to drive, and the dash should be clear of camera warnings.
When your vehicle needs calibration, it comes with the windshield replacement.
Desert driving
Dust, glare and the camera window
The camera only sees as well as the glass in front of it. Years of blowing dust and grit can leave a fine pitting on an old windshield that scatters low sun, the kind you face heading east on Speedway in the morning or west on Grant in the evening. A new windshield clears that patch, and calibration makes sure the camera aims correctly through it.
Between washes, keep the area in front of the camera clean, and do not put a toll tag, parking permit or phone mount inside that dotted border.
Calibration questions
Ask about your vehicle on our Tucson line, (520) 492-2800.
Do all cars need calibration after a new windshield?
No. Only vehicles with a camera or sensor that looks through the windshield. We check by VIN before booking, so you know ahead of time.
What happens if the camera is not calibrated?
It may still switch on, but it can misjudge where the lane is or how far away the car ahead is. That can mean warnings at the wrong time or braking that comes late. We follow the maker's procedure instead of skipping it.
Is calibration an extra charge?
When your vehicle needs it, calibration comes with the windshield replacement, and your quote includes both.
