Door windows

Broken side window after a break-in

Car break-ins in Tucson tend to happen where cars sit unwatched for a few hours: trailhead parking, park-and-ride lots, apartment complexes overnight. The thief usually breaks one side window. Door glass is tempered, so it crumbles into pebbles that drop down inside the door and scatter through the seat tracks and floor mats. The new window goes in, and the vacuum comes out for every piece within reach.

Before we arrive, keep the car somewhere covered if you can. An open window lets in dust, rain from a passing storm and sun that bakes the interior. Plastic sheeting taped over the frame is fine for a slow drive home, but it tends to peel off at highway speed.

Door glass we replace

  • Driver, passenger and rear-seat door windows on cars, SUVs, vans and pickups
  • Text a picture of the broken window to (877) 350-5962 so we order the right glass the first time

Back glass

Rear window replacement in Tucson

When back glass breaks it does not crack in place like a windshield; it collapses into the back seat or cargo area. We clear the loose glass, fit the new rear window and plug the defroster grid and any antenna lead back in, then check that the defroster heats before we leave.

Pickups are their own case. A fixed back window and a sliding one are different parts, and some sliders are heated. A photo of the back of the cab, with the year and model, settles which one you have.

Sunroof glass

Sunroof panels and glass roofs

Monsoon storms over Pima County can carry hail, and a sunroof facing straight up takes it head on. We replace the glass in tilting sunroofs and the large fixed panels in panoramic roofs, including the all-glass roofs on many electric cars, and reseal the panel before the technician leaves.

Worth knowing ahead of time: If the sunroof is stuck or noisy because of the motor or the track, that is a job for a sunroof mechanic, and we will say so. Also, sunroofs are missing from the list in Arizona's full glass statute, so any insurance payment rests on how your own policy is worded. We read it with you first.

Company vehicles

Fleet glass around Tucson

Service trucks and vans pile up miles on I-10 and I-19, and their windshields pay for it. Our technicians swap windshields and side glass right in your yard or office lot, which keeps the truck out of a shop queue. Send a list of the vehicles and where each one parks, and we will quote them one by one.

Where we can meet your car

  1. Home carport or driveway

Where most of our Tucson jobs happen. Covered is best in summer and during the monsoon.

  2. Complexes and condos

Send the gate code and any rules from the leasing office, such as a visitor space we should use.

  3. Work and hospital lots

Fine when vendors are allowed and both front doors can open. Tell us the level for a garage.

  4. Retirement and gated communities

In Green Valley, Saddlebrooke and similar communities, put us on the guest list or send the gate code.

  5. Yards and job sites

For fleet vehicles, a level spot clear of moving equipment.

Glass never goes in out in the open while it is raining or dust is blowing. When a storm is heading for your part of town, expect a call to pick another time.

Other glass questions from Tucson

Not sure which piece of glass it is? Text a photo to (877) 350-5962 or call (520) 492-2800.

What about the little triangle window by the rear pillar?

That is quarter glass, and it is no longer on our list. Everything else is: windshields, door windows, rear glass and sunroof panels.

My window is stuck halfway down. Can you fix it?

Not unless the pane is broken. A stuck window with intact glass usually means a worn motor or regulator in the door, which is a mechanic's repair rather than ours.

Will the new side window match my tint?

Factory tint is built into the glass, and we order glass to match your vehicle. Film tint that was added later is a separate product, and a tint shop applies it to the new window if you want it.

Does the warranty cover back glass?

Yes. Back glass gets the same lifetime workmanship warranty as every other install, for as long as you own the vehicle. It covers our workmanship and defects in the glass we install, so if the defroster lines fail because of our work, call us.
