The southeast side

Where the city runs into the foothills

Rita Ranch is a suburban neighbourhood on the far southeast side of the City of Tucson, and many of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base's military families live here. Next door, also inside the city limits, is Civano, a planned community built around ecologically sound building practices. Home building on the southeast side has kept going, so new streets keep appearing.

Corona de Tucson is further out and a different kind of place: an unincorporated census-designated place in Pima County, at about 3,300 feet in the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains, next to the Coronado National Forest. It grew from 813 people in 2000 to 9,240 in 2020, more than ten times over, so a lot of its homes and roads are recent.

Getting there

The I-10 exits on the southeast side

Most trips here leave I-10 at one of these four exits, from Kolb Road east.

A diverging diamond crosses traffic to the left side of the road over the bridge and back again. If you are new to it, follow the lane arrows, not the habit.

Local roads

Roads that carry the area

  1. Houghton Road

The main north-south road on this side. The Pima County Fairgrounds sit on it at 11300 S Houghton Road, so expect event traffic while the fair is on.

  2. Rita Road

Runs past the UA Tech Park, a research and business campus that has worked from this site for more than 30 years. A job in one of its lots needs the employer's say-so.

  3. Sahuarita Road

The east-west link from the Corona de Tucson area across to I-19 and Sahuarita, a road that also carries mine and gravel traffic.

  4. Old Spanish Trail

The way northeast toward Rincon Valley.

Gravel shoulders, new construction entrances and haul trucks all throw stones. If one hits your windshield, note the road and nearest cross street, and take a dated photo.

ZIP codes

Two ZIP codes and two agencies

Rita Ranch and Civano are in 85747, a City of Tucson ZIP code that also covers the Tech Park and the fairgrounds. Corona de Tucson is 85641, a code it shares with Vail and part of Rincon Valley. Give us the full street address and a cross street when you book; on new streets, a map can be months behind.

Because Rita Ranch is inside the city, a break-in report there goes to the Tucson Police Department, which takes some vehicle reports online. Corona de Tucson is unincorporated, so it goes to the Pima County Sheriff's Department. The car window page has the details.

Where we work

Installs on southeast streets

  • Driveways and garages are where most of these jobs happen. A garage or carport is best from June to September.
  • HOA neighbourhoods: some limit work in the street. Tell us if yours does, and we keep the car in the driveway.
  • New-build streets: if your house is too new for the map, send a pin or the nearest finished cross street.
  • On-base housing and lots at Davis-Monthan: we do not promise access to the base. A home off base or a workplace lot is simpler.
  • Workplace lots at the Tech Park or elsewhere: check the property allows vendor work, and tell us the building and lot.

We do not install in rain or blowing dust. Monsoon storms usually build in the afternoon, so morning slots are safest in summer.

Rita Ranch and Corona questions

Not sure we reach your street? Call (520) 492-2800.

Is Corona de Tucson part of Tucson?

No. It is an unincorporated community in Pima County with its own ZIP code, 85641, although it is on our Tucson listing and we serve it the same way.

Can you replace a windshield on Davis-Monthan?

We do not promise base access. If you live on base, the easiest option is to meet at a home or workplace off base.

In Rita Ranch or Corona de Tucson, can the windshield camera be calibrated in my driveway?

Often, yes. Calibration comes with the windshield replacement when your car needs it, in the same visit where the procedure can be done on site. If your car needs a different setup, we say so before booking.

Do you come out as far as the Santa Rita foothills?

Yes, across Corona de Tucson. Homes on unpaved roads are fine too; just tell us about the access when you book.
